I'm back in Japan after being in New York for a week.
Now let me do a short write-up on the trip. I wonder what I could convey from my viewpoint.
I know of the terrorist attack which took place ten years ago and that families who lost their loved ones are trying their best to cope with the loss while living on.
The fear of what could happen.
So I thought that I would like to convey this, to never forget what took place on that day.
This time, I was speechless when I saw photos of those who lost their lives on the day of the attack, Their smiles in the photos brought home the fact that they had their lives suddenly and unfairly taken away from them. This again must have brought much pain to their surviving family and friends, their loved ones.
10 years might be a number/ anniversary to some, but to those families who lost their loved ones, their loss is still acute and can't be erased.
I hope to keep the thoughts of these families close to my heart. During this trip to NY, even though I found it difficult to believe that something like that happened right in the middle of this metropolis, I was given the chance to gather some materials/footage for this unimaginable terrorist attack. Even though I could never fully empathise with the feelings of those who lost their loved ones, of those who lived through that incident, it did feel like I was there when it happened and I am very much saddened by it.
Once again, I was given the chance to experience something priceless.
Lastly, thank you for taking your time to read this entry.
