EDIT (22 Jun) - I spoke to Megu san, the Japanese fan who uploads the radio links and some TV appearances onto YouTube. She's really happy that her links for the radio shows have helped to spread NEWS love around and will continue to work on uploading the links to share with fans around the world in the future. Iitaidake! (^0^)/
Chankapaana & Full Swing
They announced the new single 'Chankapaana' at the start of the show, prompting Arachi (co-host) to ask what the word meant. Massu asked her to guess and she thought it had something to do with Italian food! (^O^) Massu then replied her with 'Cabonara' and 'Torippa'. Tegoshi and Arachi had no idea what 'Torippa' was and Massu had to explain... it went on for a while before Tegoshi pulled Massu back and said that NEWS new song isn't titled 'Torippa'. They went back to talk about Chankapaana and explained that it is a made-up word. The 'chan' is taken from how girls are referred to as 'ayumi-chan', 'tabe-chan' etc and 'kapaana' has an Italian influence/ring to it. Tegoshi then explained that the lyrics are about love between a man and a woman and a little sexy. They both explained that it's a song for adults... (XDDDD we already know that....) Apparently the dance choreography will be quite catchy especially during the chorus and they think fans will be dancing to it when they sing it.
Towards the end of the show, they also talked a little about 'Full Swing'. It's a really good song and all four of them are really impressed with this song, so much that if it had been possible, they would have wanted to release both Chankapaana and Full Swing at the same time.
Fan request - Happy Birthday
A fan wrote in to say that she spent her last birthday in Canada, where her teacher and friends surprised her with a cake and sang NEWS' Happy Birthday to her. Hence she'd like them to play this song.
Tego: 'Happy Birthday' in Canada... That's nice yeah?
Massu: That's so nice.. Maybe i'll go there for my birthday too.. For my birthday this year.
Tego (in an instant): nononono, you go to Osaka (this year)
*laughter from the other two*
Tego: You should go to Osaka. It's the first day of your butai, isn't it? I was surprised and thought 'what were you saying?!' You're the lead right.
*continued laughter* (Tego sounds like Massu's manager here)
Fan letter - Confessions
Q: Direct (face to face) love confession or an indirect (mail/text) love confession.
TegoMass both prefer direct confessions... as a proof of sincerity. Apparently Tego had a really funny expression when he said all that, causing the other two to laugh.
Fan letter - SInging and dancing
Q: A fan wrote in to say that her club activity is musicals and there are many instances where she has to sing and dance. She would like to find out how to get better (ie not breathless) while singing and dancing.
Massu: Just need to work hard (ganbare)
Tego: That's the worst (useless) piece of advice *laughs* (probably because it wasn't constructive at all)
They then explained a little more. Massu thought that it'd be good for her to find a split second pause (to catch her breath) before singing while Tegoshi felt that it would be useful to train up stamina. Apparently he trained by doing short distance runs and then sing. Massu got a little miffed when Arachi was going 'sugoi sugoi' at Tego's advice but said nothing to his.
Fan letter - Dieting
Q: In order to look her best for NEWS summer concert, a fan asked for advice on dieting and training.
Arachi: Have you guys gone on a proper diet before?
Massu: I haven't really... I just exercise.
Tego: I did it once. During that time when I was filming 'My boss, my hero', I was a little round.
Apparently he was caught up in filming at that time and had no time to exercise. On top of that, there were all sorts of goodies such as donuts at the set so he just ate and got a little fat, which was a first for him. (I can't imagine that... his face gets a little round but he's still skinny) Anyway to lose that weight, he had lots of salad and ran for an hour every night. All that said, he thought that a girl shouldn't need to go all that way. He said that it's a misunderstanding that guys like really skinny girls. He prefers girls with some meat on the bones. They gave some good advice such as eating salads and not to be too extreme such as depriving yourself of all your favourite food, not eating carbs at all etc. Massu said that one can cut back on carbs and eat them in the day (as opposed to night) but it's bad to cut them out completely. He also added that it would be good to consume most calories in the day and have a light dinner, or to eat what you want and then exercise to work off the calories. Toward the end, they reminded the fan twice not to overdo it (dieting) (Tego, Massu, can you please tell Shige that too)
So have you ordered your Chakapaanas yet? (^0^)/
