Catch up.

Playing catch up with lots of things. Anime and drama for starters.  My classmate from my Japanese school told me that 'Lovely Complex' is a good and fun to watch anime so I watched it.  She is aware of TegoMass as they sang both the starting and ending themes for that anime.  Boy it was good!  It is rare to hear the kansai dialect being used by all the actors in the anime, throughout the anime and I do like the kansai dialect! I do recommend this to anime lovers who are looking for a relatively short but fun series to watch.

I've also been watching RESCUE, the drama with Massu in it.  Massu's all macho as a Yokohama Super Ranger in Yokohama's rescue team and I don't think I've seen this side of Massu before.  It is refreshing and yet not too unfamiliar.  I wish he'll get more dramas!

Next on Shige - his novel!  I'm in Singapore for a work trip now and will try my luck at kino to see if they have the book... I have placed an order for it in London's Mitsukoshi but it'll take 2 - 3 weeks to arrive.  I can't wait to read it or at least try to read it...  There have been some amazing (and honest) reviews on Amazon JP's website already!  Some bought the novel because a friend recommended it (and they don't really know Shige/NEWS at all); others bought it because they are NEWS fans but didn't have much expectations because the author is after all an idol.... Eventually they came to know Shige not as an idol but a writer instead. In short, it sounded like Shige has exceeded expectations, surprised and astounded many and have changed others' opinions of him/idol's works (though this isn't new NEWS to us here I suspect) I can't help but feel really happy/proud of him and his success as a writer.  Writer Kato Shigeaki.  Most if not all wrote that they are looking forward to his next book! Oh I do hope my level of Japanese would be enough to do justice to the book!!

I went to karaoke in London for the first time last weekend.  It was my Japanese teacher's birthday so we all went out for a meal and managed to confuse the poor waitress at the Chinese restaurant.  It was such a mixed group!  A British lawyer, a British born Chinese girl originally from Macau, two Japanese teachers and a Singaporean in the mix.  And all conversing in Japanese in a Taiwanese restaurant.  My Brit classmate ended up saying 'arigatou' to the waitress (forgetting that he was in London and not Japan). Lol. Anyway we went to karaoke and I did 'Summer Time' with the other Japanese teacher.  I've never sang 'Summer Time' in karaoke before but we managed to get through Shige and Keiichan's rap parts reasonably well!  Apparently it's a song she always does in summer with her friends in Tokyo.  Not quite summer now but nvm (^^)  She's the same age at Tegoshi hence she knows NEWS / TegoMass quite well and we always talk about them in class. LOL. Plus her sister is a big itteQ fan so that comes up a lot in our conversation too!  Matsuri Otoko  - Daisuke, Ucchan (Helmet ojisan) and Tegoshi. Anyway she thinks that TegoMass are really good singers and was getting excited (on my behalf) when I told her about me going to their live in Yokohama.  Absolutely adore her!

It's 30 degrees celsius now and I am dreading the sub-zero temperature waiting for me in London this weekend.  Brr....

Taken in Hakodate,  just in front of the red brick warehouse.

EDITED (4pm Singapore time) - Bought my copy at Kinokuniya!  I'm proud to say that I bought the last copy of that stack (all other new titles for the week still had many copies left but 'Pink & Grey' had only one copy left when I was there)  I will start reading tonight!
