So... Jimmy Jacobs nearly got us killed

Oct 26: I head to the Twin Cities and go to Paul McCartney concert with my Dad. Awesome show; Paul played for two and a half hours! Good, good show. Everyone should experience a live singalong to "Hey Jude" in their life.

Oct. 27: Lunch with my good friend, Michelle Fure. I dated Michelle in college for more than two years, and I miss seeing her. Good conversation was had.

Oct. 28: So, the trip to Iowa consists of five wrestlers and myself. Darin Corbin, Ann Thraxx and Ryan Cruz are in one car; I have Arik Cannon & Jimmy Jacobs in my car. We leave a bit late (Cannon IS pokey!) The drive is dull, but it's going quick, as Jacobs is telling all sorts of stories, and he's animated.

We pass two attractive girls. Jacobs becomes an energetic eight-year-old, begging for me to slow down, and let the girls catch me. So I do. Jacobs held up a sign, asking the ladies to show their goods. They of course, decline. They ignore Jimmy. This makes him IRATE! He tosses something, maybe a bottle, at them! I'm driving along, oblivious to Jimmy's antics!

A truck pulls up alongside me, and the driver is angry! He tosses something at me, and steers at my car! He gets in front of me and slams on his breaks, and we narrowly avoid a collision! Arik & Jimmy find this all pretty funny, of course. I'm convinced we are about to get pulled over. Luckily, we get to Muscatine, Iowa, with no further incidents.

We get to the Armory, and I check us into our hotel. Friday's show is NWA-No Limits. I enjoyed the show, perhaps more than others there... as Ryan and Darin each had singles matches, and Cannon and Jacobs faced off in a big six-man tag match. Good times.

The show ends and we all sneak into our one hotel room. Chris Hero, Eddie Kingston, Larry Sweeney and Bryce Remsburg, along with their friend Sarah, come to our hotel room to eat food and hang out, before they make their long all-night journey back to Pennsylvania. I admire these guys' dedication, driving all the way to Iowa for one show, only to turn around and go all the way back home. Seriously, being this close to wrestlers has only made me appreciate what they do.

The next day, I'm up early, and I eat the delicious breakfast at the hotel; my comrades eat garbage McDonalds. Then, it's off to Des Moines for 3XW! The drive is a straight shot, and is done in about two hours flat! I have Cruz & Ann Thraxx in the car for this leg of the trip, and it's more ... relaxed... than the trip the day before.

So, we get to Des Moines and watch a bit of the training going on in the ring. I really like this venue, and 3XW does the little things right -- they have a new ring, new guardrails, a nice venue, and sharp programs. While the wrestling wasn't the best, it was nice to see a show with lots of new wrestlers in a new location.

Casanova was on the show, and Ashlee Adams & Nate Bash drove down from the cities to work the show too, so all nine of us went to Perkins after the show. It was nice to eat a regular meal, after eating fast food too much of the weekend. We left at about midnight sharp... some people think I'm crazy, but I enjoy the all-night driving. If I have tunes, good conversation, and my secret mix of Mountain Dew & licorice, I am good to go!

I drop Ann Thraxx off at home, and I nearly hit three deer crossing a major road in Plymouth! Seriously, what are deer doing in Plymouth? I walk into my Mom's house just before 4 a.m., and I get a few hours of sleep.

So it's Sunday, and time for day 3 of three nights of wrestling! I pick up Ann Thraxx, and it's off to rural Amery. The directions I printed up were acurate, but I should have printed a map, too, because this building is several miles north of Amery, and I was really confused! I have to applaud Ann Thraxx, because I was fuming, and she managed to stay calm as I got irate. She gets teased a lot, but she's a good road trip partner.

Day 3 is NIW. The show was pretty good. I really enjoyed Cannon vs. Punisher, and Jacobs had a good match with The Prophet. Rain vs. Ann Thraxx was a fun, hard hitting match.

Unfortunately, Kid Krazy got a bit injured, and he's going to be out a few more weeks.

The drive home was ugly, just because of the fog in the area.

Fast forward through a boring week of work to...

Saturday, Nov. 5: I meet Andrew (The Boss), Venom, and Rob Page in Menomonie, and the four of us drive to Chicago Ridge, Ill., to watch ROH. Rob Page brought the rain with him! Yes, just like the last time I did a road trip with him, it rained pretty much the entire drive to (and from) Chicago! Grrrr.

Rain (the wrestler, not the weather!) & Kid Krazy pass us on the freeway; Rain drives much faster than I do! I enjoyed the show a lot, and I think Roderick Strong & American Dragon had a phenomenal match.

I chat briefly with a few wrestlers I see in the crowd, and that's always fun. Hey, they're fans of great wrestling, and they want to see ROH too.

We head home right after the show. Yep, it's 11:45 p.m., and we have a long drive ahead of us. The 24-hour Taco Bell in Beloit is our first stop, and no hassles this time. In fact, the place was empty! We stop again in Osseo, Wis., and I have a story on the top of page 1 of the Sunday paper, which is always cool to see.

I'm off to Collective Soul tonight, a T-Wolves game on Wednesday, and the WWE supershow on Sunday. I can't complain about any of that.

Oh yeah...
