The weather has been just beauty-ful lately. Sunny, mid-70s, a touch of Fall in the air... Today, the one day I wanted to get a little dressed up and pretty (for the baby shower my work friends are giving), it's supposed to be rainy and windy. Blegh. Oh well. I know that doesn't mean I still can't get dressed up and pretty. It's just that most of my maternity clothes are kinda summer-y, capri pants and the like, and I'm not sure if I can get away with that today. We'll see... In any case, I'm excited to see some of my work friends, and better yet, the shower is at Cheesecake Factory. Yum!
Nothing new and exciting this week. Up until recently, I was really trying to avoid doing the "waddle". No matter how bad my back hurt and I wanted to just stick my belly out, I tried to stand up straight and walk normally. I have officially given up on that. But it's more about this pressure between my legs. Like I seriously don't feel like I can put my legs together. I know now what women talk about when they say they feel like they have a bowling ball between their legs. Tomorrow I see the midwife, and normally, they go ahead and do an exam at the 39-week appointment. Part of me doesn't even want to know. I seriously doubt that I'm dilated, but it would be nice to know if his head is as low as it feels.
Let's see... what else? I made a delicious Irish Apple Cake yesterday, made even better by the butterscotch chips I sprinkled on top. Of course, Brian won't eat it. I love him, but he is the pickiest eater I've ever known.
Oh, and every once in a while, Rhode Island redeems itself. Between car taxes, bad roads, and general backwardness, Brian and I like to bitch about this state. But today, exactly 3 weeks after I filed for my temporary disability insurance, it has been deposited in our checking account. Huge relief. We just have to be very, very thrifty these next couple of months. I have to remember, the more money we save on stupid stuff like going out to dinner, the longer I can stay home with my baby.
