It's kind of been a while since I updated... Everything is going pretty well. I am officially on my own at work, and while I think they've been kind to me with the patient assignments, I feel like I've done well. I had a wonderful night at work last week. I had a delivery that was almost perfect. Adorable couple, first baby... The patient was amazing. She proved that there is such thing as a wonderful delivery without an epidural. I don't see those too much. The rest of the night was slow, so I pulled out the ultrasound machine and had one of the other nurses scan me. I am SO anxious to find out if this little baby is a boy or girl! I'm still a little early to see definitively, and one nurse thought she saw "something" but I just don't want to get too excited yet. We have our official ultrasound on May 10th, and we should find out then. What we did see though, was our little baby sucking its thumb! It's just amazing to me. That little being is only a few ounces, and it's sucking its thumb! Here's a
picture... It's kind of hard to see, but the baby is laying on its back with the arm bent up to its mouth. Too cool.
And otherwise, the pregnancy is going well. Brian and I had a little scare a couple of weeks ago that involved a quick trip to the hospital... Thanks to my delicate cervix. All was well though, and it gave us another excuse to see the baby on ultrasound. I'm getting very spoiled with that. I think I'm getting the start of a little belly, which is kind of fun. But I'm not looking forward to having to buy maternity clothes.
And as our first anniversary approaches, I feel just so amazingly grateful for my wonderful marriage. I absolutely adore my husband. I don't know what I did to deserve him, but I'll take it. I cry every time he talks to my belly. Last night, as I was leaving for work, he leaned down and said, "I love your mommy so much."
All righty then. It's a nice rainy day, which I will sleep away...
