The crows have been bringing us presents, apparently in return for the thousands of peanuts Randy has fed them for the past five years. They leave these "gifts" in the birdbath. One time it was a cherry. The other day it was a denuded, disemboweled rat. Yesterday it was a chunk of old bread. We can't wait to see what's next.

Wow. The best we get is presents from Mac, our tabby. He doesn't kill anything for real, but he warbles at about 6:00 a.m. when he's killed (a) his mousie, (b) the big mousie, (c) one of our socks, (d) our underwear, or, once, (e) a small bottle of OTC pills.

I can relate. Our tortie girl, Opal, wails her mousie song around 5 or 6 am, a habit I wish we could break her of.
