You know, Kimura-san, you're cool

Nov 20, 2012 00:27

I tried translating Kimura's talk on Non-stop 2012.10.22. What I love the most about the talk is how Shitara Osamu-san, the host, couldn't help but keep blurting out how cool Kimura is. I think he respects, admires and likes Kimura a lot.
Shitara-san is also half of the Bananaman combi and used to act in Mr.Brain.

Shi: Please welcome Kimura-san! Thank you for your hardworking today from the morning.

K: No, not at all.

Shi: Are you okay? You don’t feel sleepy?

K: No, I don’t.

Shi: You’re strong in the morning?

K: No, I’m weak.

(Everyone laughs)

K: I’m weak, but I’m not sleepy.

Shi: You’re showing courage?

K: No, not at all. It’s because I always watch Non-stop.

Shi: Eh? Really?

K: It’s true.

Shi: Actually, during the FNS 27hrTV, he did the pose of Non-stop that apparently only I got it. I was really happy. It was when we had the meal during SMAPxSMAP corner.

K: Yes.

Shi: After this, he will be the special guest on the corner “Displeased person.”

K: I’m not that displeased.

(Everyone laughs)

A female host: Just his name, it’s still cool … (looking at Kimura) So cool!

Shi: It’s obvious, isn’t it! He’s the top, so it’s obvious!

K: (touches her T-shirt) It looks good today. (clothes) The universe. (face) The Saturn.

The host: It’s not the Saturn! Because there’s nothing around my face!

Then, while a female announcer was asking audience to send questions they want to ask Kimura, Kimura was making another trademark pose of the show.

The corner:

Shi: Although speaking of Getsuku, people often relate him to it, he also acts on other channels. And I was allowed to act with him.

K&Shi: Right~?

Shi: The time when we co-starred was really fun.

[…]

Question: What are you getting into lately?

Shi: Kimura-san has many hobbies like fishing, and playing guitar.

K: Many…that’s right. The thing I’ve got into recently is food. Do you know brown rice enzyme?

Shi: I don’t know. Enzyme? Enzyme seems to be good for health.

K: I heard people said it’s not good to eat like that. They said “Really?” and didn’t take it in immediately. However, now it’s popular at the filming location.

Shi: The food that you popularize at the filming site is delicious.

K: Is it so?

Shi: The last time when we co-starred, you popularized curry with natto (fermented beans).

K: Ah, natto curry is delicious.

Shi: You said that people who lost the janken (rock, scissors, and paper) game would get out (not be allowed to eat the food). I was happy to be invited to play it. This time is enzyme, is it sold out there?

K: Well, it’s kind of simple to make it, but my co-stars like Nakai Kiichi-san and Natsume-san said “Ah, this is new for me.”

Shi: I heard that it’s really good for health.

K: It’s incredibly good. To some extent, you won’t catch cold (thanks to it). People who do live broadcast should have it.

Shi: Then, I want to receive it.

K: Certainly.

Shi: Then how about eating the rice?

K: I cook it with like things like azuki beans, and soya beans.

Shi: It’s good right? Bean rice is delicious.

K: At first, people thought “zuke!” but after they try it, “Huh? This is different.”

Shi: Heh? I really want to have it.

[…]

Question: What do you do during your days off?

Shi: First of all, do you have any day off? Now you don’t have it right? You’re doing a drama.

K: I don’t have many days off.  But when it is written “day off” (on the schedule), it’s day off, and I go to somewhere.

Shi: You go out? Like near or far places, and also surfing, right?

K: Yeah, or, like getting chances to play golf from Sanma-san.

Shi: You also play golf?

K: I’m always outside.

Shi: For men, they are always outside. But somehow, even if they take all the ways to do it, they do not get into it. For example, for golf you learn about its customs and join clubs, but do you love it?

K: That’s right. Even now, I still don’t understand golf. Once in three times I would want to throw the driver part.

Shi: Like “I will quit it. But I’m still doing it.”

K: Yeah, it seemed that Tunnels’ Kinashi Noritake-san threw it for real.

Shi: So, Noritake-san did it! (laughs) As you don’t have many days off, when you have them, you do them with your all, right?

K: I’m more of the way “When you play, you play! When you do it, you do it!” Generally speaking, I do play on my days off.

Shi: You give such feeling when you do something, even when you tamper guitar.

K: For guitar, usually I just make noises.

Shi: No, not at all, making noises in that way is terribly cool, you know? (turns to speak to other announcers) Earlier, when we were in a room together, he played the guitar. It was really cool.

An announcer: You heard it live?

Shi: I heard it live. He and Tortoise Matsumoto-san played together.

K: Ah~

Shi: It was a luxury. I found myself feeling “fu~wa~” like a woman.

Karina: His position at the filming site, or should I say the acting, anyway, he gets into the filming site really fast! He enlivens the site. As he also talks with frankness, the site also becomes warm. I’ve also learned many other things from him.

Question: If Kimura-san feels stressed, do you have any method to reduce it?

K: To reduce stress…like we mentioned in the previous talk, it is playing. But at the moment the schedule doesn’t allow me to play. When I wonder how it is today, I realize that I don’t have much stress. I take a bath and then sleep.

Shi: You partly let off the stress into work?

K: That’s right. At the filming site.

Shi: Don’t you do various work? Like acting and live tours. In that way, shouldn’t I say that you don’t have time to feel stressed?

K: Right. My situation changes a lot, like when I’m on my own and when five of us are together. As “the me” in each of those situations is needed, I find myself stocking up stress one by one. At that time that will surely become hindrance and I feel that I won’t go forward smoothly.

When I feel stressed, I think if it’s now, I film the drama, or if it’s the live, I do the live, or if it’s SmaSma filming, I do the filming. When I work with all my power that day, I relatively let off stress.

Shi: I remember that during the 27hrTV, after cooking, you sang right? When I saw that, I felt happy and felt grateful for being cured. At that time, other than work, there was something like you were able to let your feeling out. You then were really cool!

K: What did you just say? (hits Shitara-san’s shoulder and laughs shyly)

Shi: I’m sorry that the feeling has become gross.

Question (from Fujiga Taisuke): When you have a contest, what do you do to have good luck?

K: I wonder what it is. Just inside of me, I make it one play. Somehow in that way, the thing I have to do now is go and sort out things.

Shi: Somehow, it’s not about things to eat (to have good luck) but fortify your spirit.

K: Yeah, but I wear shoes starting from the right.

Shi: Heh? It’s an original omen.

K: So it’s an original omen? But, the stylist occasionally says “Today, I’m in your care,” then he takes off clothes for me, and halfway, he asks “is it okay to take it out from here?” and it’s usually on the right side. At that time (when the stylish is taking out things halfway and stop) it’s really troublesome.

Shi: Here I have a favor to ask. To people who are taking off shoes around here, please start from the right side (implying to give Kimura’s drama good luck).

(Kimura also bows and asks for the favor)

Shi: If people didn’t notice it and entered from the left, you will get anxious, right?

K: This morning, when people changed clothes for the Mezameshi that I appeared, they started from the left. (laughs shyly)

Shi: You couldn’t say it.

K: As it was in the morning, I couldn’t say it.

Announcer: So kind.

[…]

Question: Things that you certainly carry are?

K: Things I carry should be the bag (Kimura shows his private bag). There’s the script.

Shi: Please let me look into it. Amazing. Hat and sunglasses…

K: Yes.

Shi: When we co-starred, I wondered when you memorized scripts. You almost don’t look at the script right?

K: I don’t look at the script at the filming site.

Shi: So you come to the site after putting all things into your memory.

K: If you don’t memorize the script, it’s not good to go to the filming site, and you will be rude to the staff, right?

Shi: Right. But I can’t remember all the script.

K: You didn’t remember it?

Shi: Not at all. I just barely did it.

(Shitara-san finds Kimura’s signature on the script book)

K: I sign on the script.

Shi: It’s precious.

K: No, it’s totally normal.

Shi: It’s cool!

K: Here, your present.

Shi: Eh?! For me? It came! I’m so happy. (quickly opens it)

K: See it later, cause it’s different. When I was offered to guest on Non-stop, they asked me to do a questionnaire. They asked me if there was anything I wanted to do like a ranking. I checked TV programs with all my energy and wrote the answer. It was a ranking that we rarely have during live broadcasts like underpants fractions. I wrote I wondered if they would study the Best 3 underpants of men and women. Then I myself turned it down. I thought I’m meeting you after a long time, so I bought you the underpants I like the most.

Announcers: We want to see it!

K: It’s not good. It’s between us.

Shi: It’s just among here!

Thank you! Thank you! I have received underpants! I’m so happy!

(After the promotion of Priceless)

Shi: Kimura-san’s gesture is really cool. I wonder if there’s something similar on American films. The things I like (in the drama-he was allowed to watch the first episode) perhaps were not written in the script. When you watch it attentively until the plot develops, it’s interesting.

K: Thank you very much.

Shi: You were really cool!

(Kimura laughs)

Shi: You know, Kimura-san, you’re cool.

(laughs)
