Story Sale to Asimov’s SF

Mar 13, 2014 10:23

I’m thrilled to report that I’ve sold a short story to Asimov’s Science Fiction!

I still kind of can’t believe it. Selling to this market has been a dream of mine ever since I picked up my first copy of the magazine back in 1986.  Which, interestingly,  just happens to be the year in which my story “Videoville” is set.  Coincidence? (Pictured: my first Asimov’s, which had John Kessel’s “The Pure Product” in it.  Awesome!)

I’ve been submitting stories to Asimov’s for twenty freaking years, so I can’t tell you how excited I am to place something in its pages. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be writing this post if not for Taos Toolbox 2012 (who leveled me up) and my local group, the Freeway Dragons (who critiqued this one, and have supported me through many dark writing times).  And, of course, Jenn - who always inspires me, but perhaps never more directly than during her Facebook writing challenge in December, which got this story going in the first place.

I don’t know when it will be published yet, but I’ll be sure to post an announcement when I do. So jazzed!
