Pain. Lots of pain.

Well, I think I'm done with parades for a while.  Ouch!  Riding boots were never designed for walking.  The horse is supposed to do that part, and while there were horses in the parade today, I was not on one.  You remember that cold, rainy, overcast day we were supposed to have?  Yeah, me too.  Instead it was a beautiful day for a parade - hot, sunny, humid...  My feet swelled up like a balloon, and I have the blisters and aching heels to prove it.  Thankfully there was a nice breeze through most of the areas, but it was also the slowest moving parade I have ever seen in my life.  Standing still is worse on your body than the walking, and we did nearly as much standing around as we did walking.  It was a really interesting parade from a neighborhood standpoint though.  We started at the Naval Yard by the U.S.S. Constitution and walked a 2.5 mile loop around Charlestown, ending with a loop right around the Bunker Hill Memorial.  We went through about 5 different levels of economic prosperity, from the projects to the beautiful colonial row houses that make you wonder how many millions you have to be worth to afford to live in one.  And the hills!  But the firefighters took advantage of one by raising two firetruck ladders 6 stories high and hanging a 3 story flag between them; one provided a breathtaking view of the Zakim Bridge, and one had us climbing towards the Bunker Hill Memorial at it's apex.  Very, very cool.

Last night Sajuka took me out to dinner, which was very nice of him.  :-)  We went to Not Your Average Joe's. Unfortunately, Sajuka's steak and potatoes were pretty run of the mill, but my salad sure wasn't! I ordered a cobb salad with raspberry vinaigrette. What I got was definitely not your average vinaigrette. First of all it was creamy. Second of all it was pink. But not just an ordinary pink. It was flaming, hot pink. It looked more like sherbet than salad dressing! It ended up being delicious, but it took at least 5 minutes for my taste buds to convince my brain that it was in fact edible. LOL!

Oh, and I did end up painting the blaster yesterday, despite the weather, and it came out pretty well. They both suffered a bit of wear today at the parade, so I have some touch ups to do, and then we'll need to clear coat them for longevity. I also made banana bread, which came out better than usual, too. Yum! :-)
