Computers and eyeballs functional; Hair and Rhode Island dilemmas

Apr 25, 2007 11:03

My computer is up and running again, thanks to the fact that Sajuka and I are pack rats. My old video card functions just fine*, and the malfunctioning BFG card is on it's way back to the company for repair or replacement. I have no idea what's wrong with it. Their support department seemed perfectly happy to take it back, rather than attempt to troubleshoot it.

*I haven't tested it out with 3D games yet but I used to play GW with it, so I assume it'll be fine once I crank some settings down.

I went to the eye doctor this morning for a second visit. Since I'm high-risk for glaucoma, he wants to do pressure readings every six months. This one was good - actually two points lower than my last visit. And again he commented on how pretty my pigment dispersion syndrome is. *rolls eyes*

I'm off to try a new hair salon this afternoon. I let my hair grow out for the wedding, and it's driving me nuts! So I get to hear them ooh and aah over how thick and beautiful my hair is, right before they chop about half of it off. I've been thinking about maybe, possibly letting them try a new style out, but I'm horribly picky and lazy about my hair, and not very brave or the least bit trendy. It has to be wash and wearable. I hate styling products and I need to be able to pull it back in a hair band.

And finally, my cousin called earlier. Her daughter has been tasked with a states project, and drew Rhode Island. Poor girl! Talk about getting the short straw... :) She asked if I had any friends in RI that might be willing to help gather some local paraphernalia for her, and unfortunately I don't. She needs about 20 items, and stuff like the state flower and bird she thinks she can find locally at Hobby Lobby or a feed and garden center, but she's a little baffled at how she's supposed to find 20 items about Rhode Island in Texas (at least without downloading everything off the 'net). It occurred to me after I got off the phone that I do have a Paw Sox schedule and/or game ticket that I can send her, and I'm going to keep my eye out for a RI postcard, but I don't know what my chances are of that. Does anyone have any other ideas?
