Laurie’s coming. Laurie’s coming. Laurie’s Coming!!
(Note the most excited Happy Panda.)
She’s coming in Wednesday, March 5 at night and leaving Sunday, March 9 at 6am. Its amazing that absolutely NOTHING is going on that weekend too. Omega Con and St Patrick’s is the next weekend, so I guess no one’s wanting to plan anything that close to the con.. No games, no meetings. So if anyone knows of anything cool going on that weekend, let me know. Otherwise, I guess the two of us will bum around Books Beans and Empire, visit old friends, go do stuff, and generally chill, catching up.
In Review: The weekend was a lot more chill that I expected. Friday I ran a ton of errands before noon and then spent the rest of the day at the shop. Ate at Mama Goldberg’s for lunch. I’m sure if I could have ordered a Rueben or salami sammich, it would have been amazing. I had a veggie burger on a bagel, which was pretty good. I finished a painting, started a new large runic piece. Played some Settlers of Catan with Nathan and a few others. Then a very amusing game of Curses with Mitch, Tanner, Kelly, Darby, Kay, and a couple others. I laughed so hard that I hurt the next day. Then Tanner and Kay joined me for some Red Vs Blue. More laughs, more hurting.
It all good.
Saturday was the Chinese New Years festival. Maybe it was because I was so young, but I remember that being bigger. It was neat, but we satisfied our need for all things oriental by grabbing Chinese food afterwards and then hitting up the Super Oriental Market. I got some lotus nut steam buns and a big box of “Year of the Rat” candies and cakes. It’s a really pretty box and some of the treats are really tasty. Kelly found a table. Then Kelly and I ran to Empire for some Manga and chat with Paul about art, grab some stuff for foods, and watch Mushi-shi until I needed to pass out.
Sunday was the all anticipated Ravenloft game. We potlucked at Patricia and Patrick’s, I got up early to make stuff croissants. We played and talked until about 10pm. The game was great, Jonsey was really rocking those NPCs and everyone got into it (except Patrick who was under the weather, poor guy). Before game while we waited on the rest of the players, we watch most of “A Slipping Down Life.” While most of it was like watching a car wreck, all the characters were fucked up in totally realistic ways. We just kept watching, wondering “what the hell?” If you have the independent film station and it comes on, grab a sammich and watch.
