I'm so glad last week is over. It was long and tiring. The festival on Saturday went really well. I didn't sell as many books as I would have liked, but I also had some crafty things I needed to unload, and unload I did. I still have a supply of candles, but there's another couple of craft fairs this fall. I was next to a beaded jewelry vendor who had beautiful stuff, and donated all the proceeds to animal rescue charities. I bought a necklace :). It's so pretty, now I want to do some beading too. I have some leftover beads, so I've been making book thongs, but a trip to the craft store today is in order.
The
Independent Book Report is falling a little behind. Sorry about that, but I'm going to catch up this week. There's a short article up now, and I have a scheduled author interview this week, and a few more out that I need to collect. So hang in there with me. Blogger lets me do posts early and save them, so I'm going to start stashing some articles and stuff ahead of time in case of work or other emergency.
And those book reviews I thought I had SO much time to get done...are due today. So I have to do that first. Then mail out some books I should have last week.
Month end WIP word count report. A paltry 55, 044 out of 65,000. Sigh. That four days, plus vacation, led to only 12,000 words last month. I tried so hard. And the scene I'm working on is not working for me, it seems to be dragging, especially since I have to get to the climax soon or risk losing the book's momentum. But I'll muddle through and fix it all up later. I'm still waiting for my first round edits from Samhain, which should have been here in August. I know it was convention season, and there was a problem when an editor quit, but I think my tentative February e-book release is in danger. Which is okay if it's March, it'll just push my in-print date back to January 2009.
Award news...the
EPPIES will be closing this week. Enough books are entered in the Children's/YA category that I won't have to switch categories.
The
Cybils are now OPEN! You can see how to nominate a book at the website, it just has to have been published in 2007. Anyone can nominate a book (hint, hint - SF/F category), and one nomination gets it in for consideration. So check the site to see if your favs have been nominated before you nominate.
I'm one of the judges in the MG fiction category. Which means I only have to read the finalists that the Nomination Committee select. I would have volunteered for the NC, but I don't think I could read that many books.
Off to start my game of catch-up!
