Friday Five

Aug 31, 2007 08:30

Not only is it Friday, but it's the end of August. Another month is gone, and school starts next week! I probably won't go back to work until the end of the month, but it's still sad to see the summer go. Ry and I had a ball this year, since I wasn't working at all, we had a lot more time to do things together, and I got a ton of writing done.

We...

- went swimming at least once a week (usually twice or even three times)
- went to the beach
- went to the zoo
- went to the library several times
- played outside whenever we were able (there was some decent weather this year, even in July and August)
- went to the movies (Shrek 3...should have waited for the DVD, but he had a good time)

This time next year we'll be getting ready for Ry's first day of real school. Everyday school. Kindergarten! He'll enjoy one more year of only-when-Mommy-works school, but at least he's gotten a taste for what it's like. Unfortunately we still have half-day kindergarten, so he's going from a whole day program to a shorter one next year, but we'll deal with that when it gets here.

I have him to myself for one more year. I'm ready for him to go to school, but at the same time I want to keep him close. He's my baby! So smart too - he loves addition. He's got a natural head for numbers, just knows how to figure them out . We've been working on writing them and letters. He'll be all set next year.

Okay, enough Mommy-blubbering. This week's Friday Five is five things you can do over your Labor Day weekend (if you live in the US. If you live somewhere else, well, sorry, you're out of luck)

1. Go down the shore (that's a NJ saying, we don't go to the beach, we go 'down the shore'. Only works if you're near the shore, I guess)
2. Have a BBQ
3. See a movie, or rent one you haven't seen.
4. Read a book. Hey, how about my book?  Read it while you're down the shore!
5. Visit the Renaissance Faire. I'd love to go this weekend, looks like we're going to have great weather, but if I go without my sister she'll knock me out. She (and the babies!) aren't coming until Sunday. Maybe next weekend then. I have to fix Hubby's kilt.

Have a nice weekend! I'm working on getting a new blog ready for September. I'll introduce you all to it next week. :)
