Friday Five...
Okay, so this is the very first Friday Five. This week's Five is what I learned this week.
1) You can really get a ton of cleaning done when you don't have any DSL because a big tractor trailer came down your street and ripped your phone line from both the pole and your house. The internet is a huge time suck.
2) The phone company doesn't care what you need your DSL for, they're not coming out if it means overtime.
3) Toothpaste really does make an amazing jewelry cleaner. No, really. Get an old toothbrush and some dirty piece of jewelry and go to town. Might take a little elbow grease if it's very dirty, but when you're done you'll be very happy. Much better than spending money on some smelly chemical stuff.
4) Don't make a final decision on what color to paint a room until you've taken everything off the walls. I had a color picked for the walls and one for the ceiling, and once the room was bare, I totally changed my mind about the ceiling color. Fortunately we hadn't yet bought the paint, but it was easier to see with the chips once the room was empty.
5) Waiting for something, much like the perverbial watched pot, will not make it happen, but you'll be happy with dribbles of news about it in the meantime.
As referenced by #1, I'm catching up with stuff after nearly 24 hours with no internet. The phone I just had forwarded to my cell, so nothing missed there. We are painting our bedroom this weekend, a mere eight years after we moved in. It's the one room, except for the office, that we haven't painted. Isn't that always the way, your own space is negeleted for the common areas of the house? Anyway, I have a lovely shade of brown, which sounds boring but it's actuallly quite warm. It's called "baked scone". The ceiling is going to be "powdered allspice" which is a little bit darker shade of the same warm light brown. See, everything in our room is shades of red, orange and yellow, even most of the artwork. The rug we will be getting from my dad is green. I won't try and match the rug, because there's just too much chance of it going wrong.
Hubby's on vacation, so it's off to Home Depot for paint, rollers, brushes, blue tape and assorted stuff. You all have a good weekend!
