VERY LAST STOP!

Aug 01, 2007 08:04

Today is the very last stop on the Virtual Book Tour! Head on over to Star-Crossed Romance, where I'm guest blogging today about why I write Fantasy for kids. I'll be checking in for a day or two to reply to comments.

I've really enjoyed this tour. It was tons of fun. I don't know how many books I sold from it, but since I did it all myself, it didn't cost me anything but time. There's still time to run back and comment on any of the tour stops I've already been on (wonder of the Internet!). I'll be picking the winners of the contest, probaby on Monday to give anyone who wants to a chance to enter themselves. The Tour Host winner (could be any of them!) will get at $20 GC to Amazon, and everyone who commented on my tour stop for the winning host will be put into a drawing for an autographed copy of BOTH Talisman of Zandria AND Return to Zandria.

In other news, July's final word count for my still untitled Wizard Academies book. It's about Fairy Tales, at its heart, so maybe someone out there in BlogLand can help me with a title? I'll give a handmade beaded book thong to anyone who comes up with the title I use.

Here's the wordcount...

I think once I get further into the story I'll be raising the final word count. I have a feeling 50K isn't going to do it. One of the other authors for the series asked me yesterday about specific characteristics for someone from a certain House from my school. I hadn't really thought about it. I mean, I knew why certain students were in ONE particular house, but hadn't concentrated on the others. Sigh. Something else to layer into the story. Won't be hard though, and will add some fun.

What do you think?

Carroll House- always punctual, afraid of being late. Hosts the best tea parties. (I'd SO be in this house. I HATE to be late)
Barrie House- fun-loving, always seeking adventure.
Lewis House - Brave, always willing to stick up for their friends. Strong sense of family.
Nesbit House - Very creative and imaginative. Usually good at finding Magikcal Artifacts
Andersen House - (Okay, somone give me a little help with this one?) I think Andersens have a strong moral center. If anyone has any other thoughts, leave them in the comments.
Grimm House - well, you can guess. :)

Now, I came up with these Houses for the very first WA story I wrote, and when it came time to figure out a storyline for a full-length book, the one I have fell into my lap, and it just worked out that the Houses had the names it did. I didn't start with the Houses, which is bizarre in its own way. I came up with the What of the story before the Why, and when it came tim to figure out the Why, I went. "Oh, that's why!". Like it should have been obvious.

I love writing. It's always surprising and always a new adventure waiting to be discovered.

Have a great day, come and see me on Star-Crossed Romance!
