see relatedWhy is it that sometimes a 20 minute nap is just what you need? Just a little rest, a recharge? How can your brain and body get any rest in that short a time? But it happens to me all the time. I say I want a nap - once in a while it's more like 2 hours - but usually it's just 20 minutes or half an hour, and I'm wide awake again. Usually happens around 2:00 in the afternoon.
Anyway. Finally got all the work done this week, both ad change and the latest rewrite.. this one was for "Pita-Ten, Vol. 1". It was cute in a strange sort of way. Now that I'm less encumbered with stuff, I can finally a) finish up my Christmas stuff and b) get back to my own writing. I feel like I've been away for a long time. I'm back to a first draft, and that feels weird. I have to just get it all down, and not worry about all the details. I have to remember that I suck at (read: hate) first drafts but I'm REALLY GOOD at rewriting. I need to just power through it to the end, and worry about making it look good later. I'm trying to give the Chinese culture a good showing in this book, and give the Chinese characters a sense of being real. Like you should with all characters of course. Last night I spent half an hour looking up a list of Chinese honorifics. I know quite a bit about Japanese honorifics, having spent so much time reading them in the Light Novels. But the Chinese ones are completely different. I won't use them too much, only when the Chinese characters speak to each other, but I wanted to get them right. That's part of what I like about the Library books - I get to research and learn new things
.
I also get some time to read. I have to finish the Currently Reading book, then I can dig back into the pile of 'to read' books that seems to multiply on its own.
Cedric Diggory update: Yesterday morning was his first vets appointment. Since this is technically Ry's cat, I took little man with me. Cedric weighs 1.6 pounds (I told you he was teeny!) and is in perfect health. No Feline Leukemia or FIV, and he got his first set of shots. He's adjusted quite nicely to life here at our house, and is raising heck all over the place. He's knocked my garland down three times already, and discovered the Christmas tree. He also puts up with Ry carrying him all over the house and rocking him like a baby. Yeah.
That's it, kiddies! Onward and upward. Only how many days until Christmas? Can't we push it back a week, or even just a couple of days? Ahhh!
