Sweet!

Ok, I added something to the Teacher's Guide. The link in the previous entry will get you the updated one. Thanks,
kbacella , for the suggestion. I will have it on the site, just as soon as the linky-thing on my host server starts working again.

Yesterday was a great day. It wasn't a math class though - it was an SC (self-contained) class. The teacher taught five different subjects, with a group of mostly the same kids.Eighth graders. I had the sweetest Down Syndrome boy all day, along with another child who just asked the best questions. Nice kids. Later in the day the group got a little bigger, all of 8 students, and they lacked some focus, but eventually did the work. It was Friday, so there wasn't much work. A good day. And the teacher had two planning periods at the end of the day, the office didn't have anything for me to do, so they told me to cut out 20 mins. early. Can't beat that!

Ry had a good day too. He was actually well-behaved for the teachers, and got a sticker for -gasp- following directions! I almost fell over. He didn't want to leave when I came to pick him up. They were getting ready for nap and a movie, and he wanted to stay. He actually cried. I did get him out, and he was just so happy about his day at school. He's already asked when he can go back. I hope soon, but it's early in the school year, so there's not many teachers out. Yesterday was a workshop day for the Special Ed teachers, which was why I was working. I might not have another day until Yom Kippur, because the sub lady said quite a few have already called for that day.

Today I actually did something I haven't done in a long while. Used my elliptical walker. I love the thing, but had to move it to the basement when my extra room became Ry's playroom. A couple of weeks ago I moved it to a better part of the basement and cleaned it off. Yes, I really did some exercise. Hard to believe, I know.

Writing? Oh yeah. I'm almost through the rewrite of Talisman, and deciding how much of the end I want to cut. I get a feeling the story's wrapping up, but there are 30 more pages to get through. I'm thinking, 30 pages? What did I write in 30 pages now that the problem has been resolved? I know what's there, and it's giving me this "Return of the King-come-on-get-it-over-with" feeling. I'll probably cut a bunch.

I'm concentrating on this book, and the voice needs to be so different from the Athena books that I just don't want to switch to the next of that yet. I'm into this one. Once I finish this pass through I think I'll work on the 2 picture books. I still need to finish the alphabet book, which I think has a better chance than the fireman concept book. I still like it. Maybe I'll sub it to Highlights. Just thinking out loud.
