A drawing...

Okay, so I haven't actually drawn anything in years. But I was fair to middling when I did, though I cannot sit and draw, I need to LOOK at something when I do it. I'm more of a parrot-artist. Nowhere near in the league of, say, coppervale At all. Ever.

But I have this idea, have had it for awhile, and decided to give it a go myself. If you've read THE MIRROR OF YU-HUANG (as reviewed by YA Books Central here), then you know that Megan receives a very special gift. It's a symbol that has also been sprinkled through the series, and I'm running with it, hopefully to make some gear and another really cool thing as soon as I figure out how to do it. I'm not especially Photshop/Paint.net savvy, but I get by.

So I started to draw my logo. I got an image to guide me, but after the basics were down, I just freestyled it, which is always dangerous. My scanner refuses to scan the entire image, so I took photos.

Here we go:

In case you can't tell, it's an olive tree, the symbol of...well, you'll have to read the book to find out. This needs a little more work. And I did it so large so that I can shrink it down. If my scanner still refuses to cooperate, I will take it to Staples and have them scan it to a usable size.

These pictures actually make it look much better than I think it is. It'll look great on T-shirts and buttons, though. Do you think?
