Things and stuff

So Grad School started yesterday. The professors did not unlock the courses until then, so I'm jumping around and trying to absorb all the information. I was off from work yesterday, so I spent much of it like I would if I were on campus for the first day of classes. Reading, reading, reading. Syllabi, assigments, projects. I can say that there is much less writing involved in these courses than in those I took for English. No real papers so far, but a few other things. My intro course has a final project instead of a final exam, which I really rather like. I can do a mentoring project if I want, and I'm considering developing a webpage for the school library I worked for last year. I would need to go to the school and take photos, work with the librarian to decide what she would like, etc. I'm still playing around with it.

At any rate, since I also have to develop my portfolio over the course of the next two years that is Web and CD deliverable, I'm thinking of getting some Web Site building software. I also think it's time for me to bump up my own author website, so it'll get used (and  since I'll use it for business to build and maintain my own site, I can take it as a tax deduction!). So I've been looking at site building software. WebStudio looks good - has anyone used it?

Meantime, writing has been put on hold for a bit until I get my bearings with Library School. I'm also filling out cover art forms and Author information forms for my new publisher - yes, remember, I have a book coming out this year sometime :). At some point I also have to start in on the next in the series, doing some plotting and whatnot so that I can start writing. I can't believe that my semester off is over already. Though I was productive - Smoke and Mirrors is now about 52,000 words. Considering I actually started writing late last summer, that's about 10K words/month. I've got my little Cinderella at the ball, after which all heck breaks loose. A little under 30K to go, and I haven't been just writing straight through, but going back and tinkering and polishing as I go. So my finished first draft will be closer to a second/third draft. Then I can put it away and start something new. Hopefully it will be finished by summer, making it one of the fastest books I've ever written when I didn't have a broken leg. LOL.

Happy Tuesday!
