I did so well the last two days. Got up at five AM, got myself together, spent a teeny amount of time on the internet, so I could prepare myself for subbing calls.
Wednesday, no call. No biggie. I went back to sleep for an hour or so, then we went shopping. I began the Cleaning of the Toyroom. I still don't have enough space. Ry's just not ready to give up the Little People. They take up much space. But okay, we'll make it work. I pulled some things out to give to the triplets, Ry had final say on each one.
Our power went out just before 8 PM Wednesday night. Just 'poof!' - instant darkness. Really, really dark. Of course it was also the coldest night we'd had in six months. So we pull on some socks and all climb into the bed together. Because it's gonna get cold, baby. It's amazing how quiet it is when nothing is running.
Power came back on just before 11. It hadn't actually gotten that cold in the house, so we were good. I still got out of bed at five AM. Hubby did not - he took a sick day. It was good I was up, and Ry was up, because the call came at 6:15. We were already mostly ready anyway, so no rushing. Easy day, but all day my head was becoming more and more plugged, the coughing worse.
Oh, man, by the time I got home it was worse. I was exhausted, then cold (but not chills-cold), and couldn't breathe my head was so stuffed. The sub lady called again, I missed it. I called her back and begged off. I just couldn't. I took Nyquil and went to bed at 8 pm.
Today I still feel like poo on a stick. I'm hot, I'm stuffed, and I feel like I just want to sleep. I'm runnning to the library to get the four CYBIL nominees I have on hold, then curling up with one in bed.

In other news, Wednesday night I took the practice Praxis test in the back of the book. Which was a good thing. I got all but two of the English questions right (and those two were about classroom things, not English.), ALL of the Math questions right, and most of the Science questions right. Two that I got wrong were my own stupid fault, not paying attention to the chart.
Overall, out of 93 questions, I got 14 wrong, mostly within the Social Studies section. Which I expected. Everyone's said it's the hardest part. The World History questions weren't a problem. It was the Poli Sci and Economics questions. Mostly about documents in US History, like the Monroe Doctrine and the Articles of Confederation.
So I'll spend this last week before the test studying that stuff. Wikipedia is my friend. And I finished the practice test with half an hour to spare. So during the actual test I'll take my time a little more. No prize for finishing early. And like the SAT's, there's no penalty for guessing, only questions you get right count.

A little birdie told me yesterday that one of the 6th grade Science teachers in one of the middle schools in the district I sub for is retiring at the end of this year...
