I'm such a ninny. I looked up how to get a teacher's license in NJ. Did you know there's an Alternate Route here in this state? Yep, as long as I have a bachelor's degree and a certain GPA (which I have over their minimum- I graduated Cum Laude, thank you VERY much), then I can apply for a Certificate of Eligibility, look for a job, be mentored by a teacher for 30 weeks, pass the three evaluations and get recommended for a standard certificate. And finish 200 hours of instruction.
I could be working while getting it. . I actually ran into a Spanish teacher in one school I sub for who took the Alternate Route.
Why did I not know about this before? Must explore options further. The local U has an alternate route program. Looks like they have Saturday classes.
