It had seemed a lot easier before. Before, when she'd brazenly walked towards the elevator, hoping he'd follow. Before, when she'd practically attacked him in the elevator. Before, when they'd stumbled into his room, so wrapped up in each other that they'd almost broken a lamp.

But now... now it's much more difficult. Mostly because they're both half-naked, and neither one of them thought they'd ever get this far.

He's in the midst of teasing her earlobe with his teeth when she stops him with a hand on the shoulder.

"Do you have any... you know, condoms?" she asks hesitantly.

His head jerks up. "Condoms?"

Despite feeling a bit self-conscious, she can't help but smile, just a little, at his surprise. "Yes, you know, those latex things that prevent pregnancy and the spread of disease?"

He blows out a breath and looks at her with some annoyance. "I know what they are," he says. "I just wasn't really planning... Wait a second." He bounds from the bed and heads towards the suite's bathroom. "I think I saw some in the complimentary toiletries thing…"

His voice trails off and she hears him rummaging around in the bathroom. She wonders if she should take this moment while he's distracted to take off her bra and underwear. What's the etiquette in a situation like this? If it were any other man, she wouldn't even question it, but this is Josh and she's just not sure how to handle this shift in their relationship.

She thinks maybe she should at least take off her bra, so she wiggles around a bit and unhooks the back. She's about to lower the cups when he comes back into the bedroom, a small packet held triumphantly in his hand.

"God bless the Radisson," he says with a small smirk. And that's when he notices that she's half-lying, half sitting there, her breasts cupped in her hands and what must be a deer-in-the-headlights look on her face.

She lowers her hands, leaving her bra dangling awkwardly from her chest, and tries to make light of the situation. "I, uh, just thought I'd get a little more... comfortable."

"No, no... you should," he mumbles, and he looks just as uncomfortable as she feels. He plucks at the hem of his t-shirt. "I should, um..."

"Yeah," she agrees quietly, head down a little to hide the crimson blush that's forming on her neck. Why she's so embarrassed, she doesn't know, but she is, and if they can't get over this to get to the good stuff...

She glances up and sees that he's already removed the shirt and his hands are hovering at the waistband of his boxers - boxers that only slightly conceal his bulging erection.

"I guess I can get rid of these, too," he says.

She smiles nervously. "I guess you can." She pulls her bra off completely and tosses it to the floor. "I guess I won't be needing these either," she says, gesturing at her bikini underwear.

"Ah, no," he agrees, as he stands awkwardly naked next to the bed.

She wriggles them down until she's just as naked as him.

He looks down at himself and then back at her. "This is ridiculous, isn't it?"

She nods. "A little."

"I mean, I've known you for eight years -"

"Almost nine," she reminds him.

"This shouldn't be -"

"Maybe we need to stop talking," she suggests with more bravado than she feels. She pulls back the starchy hotel sheets and pats the bed next to her invitingly.

He looks at her funnily for a minute then nods his head in agreement. "Maybe we should."

He climbs onto the bed and reaches for her. It's awkward, there's no doubt about that. Chins bump, knees and elbows clash, fingers and hands miss their intended targets. There's very little conversation. It's all very different then she thought it would be, and yet she can't help thinking that it's still right. Stranger, more awkward, less erotic, but indefinably right.
