It's dead as a doornail here at work (Where *did* that expression come from??) Anyhow… dead. So instead of working on fic, I have two things.
~~~~~
First --
In Election Day II, Donna says this to Josh: "No one ever talked Leo into doing ___thing he didn't already want to do."
Is it SOMEthing or ANYthing? Some quote sites say it's something. But if you watch it, it sounds like anything. And normally it wouldn't matter *that* much to me, but if I'm gonna quote the actual show in a fic, I'd like to get it right.
Yes, I'm anal. But yes, I also think some of you are too and that you probably know the correct answer to this. Hence, my questioning here.
Second -
If you happen to be working on some creative writing project, fanfiction or NaNoWriMo or what have you, post exactly one sentence (or more) from each of your current work(s) in progress in your journal. It should probably be your favorite or most intriguing sentence so far, but what you choose is entirely your discretion. Mention the title (and genre) if you like, but don't mention anything else -- this is merely to whet the general appetite for your forthcoming work(s).
(I admit, most of these are abandoned fics and not ones to be completed, but… I kinda liked the idea of getting my favorite lines from them out there anyhow.)
*
"Marry me," he repeated urgently. "I hadn't planned on asking you this way. I had planned on dinner and candles. But now that I've said it aloud, I need to know. We have about thirty seconds before the newest Congressman to California is announced, and before those thirty seconds are up - before you can answer based on whether it's a political liability or not, before you can answer on any criteria besides how very much I love you - I need your answer."
*
"You're gonna freeze like that. C'mere." He grabbed her cold hand in his somewhat warmer one and tucked them both into the pocket of his overcoat.
*
"You always do this, ever since we were kids. I don't want to do something and you taunt me until I give in."
*
“Dating? Is that what you called it? Josh was traveling all over the place, trying to find a new candidate to start prepping for a run in 2010. You were alternating between living with your family in Wisconsin and working with Sam in California. That wasn’t dating, that was a disaster waiting to happen.”
*
"I didn't sleep with him, Josh. It was a kiss. One kiss. In which I realized that I could never live on a steady diet of mashed potatoes. I needed more."
*
"You must have suspected something," Josh says.
Sam doesn't meet his eyes, can't begin to tell him that he didn't, that he harbored a secret crush on him and willfully disregarded all the signs that a romance was brewing with Donna.
