For some reason it feels like I've been in Greece for months, but it hasn't even been two full weeks yet. I think it's because I'm constantly keeping busy, and I've been having a good time for the most part. Here are some more pictures of what I've been seeing and doing...
I spent a day touring the Acropolis with my classmates. Here's the famous Parthenon at a really not so good angle:
These caryatids have always been some of my favorite sculptures. Funny thing though, these here aren't real. The real ones are in the Acropolis Museum because they're being protected from pollution:
My Monuments instructor giving us a lecture at the Theatre of Dionysus. He's a quirky man from Finland, and I love being in his class:
I spent the weekend on an island named Ios. It was beautiful, although it's best known as a huge party island. People aren't kidding:
This is the ferry I rode to get to Ios, it's called the Athina Express:
These umbrellas saved my life:
Look carefully and you might see a donkey:
Everyone getting ready to go on The Course. The owner of our hotel takes us on a walk to where all the best nightclubs are. I was excited to get some dancing in:
The "Morning After":
Grape vines outside my room:
A big ugly bug on the ceiling of my bathroom! AGGGGHHHHH!!
I had a good weekend, but it's good to be back to my "normal" routine in Athens. I think the ferry ride did me in- it was such a long ride and there were a lot of old people on it, meaning I gave up my seat to them and sat on the floor. Right now I'm waiting for my class to start, which I'll learn about more monuments in Greece and then later on I'm taking a quiz in my Greek language class. Wish me luck!
