Bei mir bist du schoen

I woke up earlier than normal this morning because my sister and I only have one car to share for a while until it starts to warm up a little. Her classes start before mine, and mine end later than hers, so there is a good period of time for each of us to wait for the other person. At least there are plenty of warm buildings to do this in.

Being the idiot I am I decided to look at the thermometer as soon as I got out of bed. If I hadn't known the temperature, I'm sure I wouldn't have felt so cold. Outside the needle was near the -55 mark and my mind flashed to all the walking I would have to do around campus in the cold. I considered skipping a class, but I just can't bring myself to do that. Instead, I ended up leaving my house wearing tights, long johns, pants, regular socks, wool socks, a thermal shirt, a sweater, a hat, scarf, thin gloves, large mittens, and my winter jacket which I absolutely hate wearing because it makes funny sounds when I move. I feel like I have become a wimp! I was going to throw on my snow pants, but I remembered they were bought when I was in sixth grade and they would no longer fit properly. It's alright though, in my bundle I survived just fine.

The drive into Fairbanks scared the crap out of me. Cassandra and I were trying to figure out just how far we would see in front of us. The ice fog was so thick and our guess was that we would see 50 feet in front of us on Badger Rd and almost 100 feet in front of us on the Richardson. However, on the Mitchell Expy we could only see 50 feet in front once again and that was bad because it's where all the intersections are.

We made it to school safely, and I got Cassandra to her first class ten minutes early.

I spent Friday night at home watching movies by myself. I've been drinking a lot of water too. This is the first Friday in a really long time that I haven't been out of the house, so it was really strange to actually greet my dad as soon as he walked in the door. He comes home from work on Friday nights and leaves again Monday nights. He works almost 100 miles away from home. :(
