Warning: Spoilers for The Little Lady Agency.

Life is looking good for Melissa Romney-Jones. The Little Lady Agency has really taken off, and she finds a deep sense of fulfillment in helping hapless men to take control of their lives. Moreover, she’s now dating Jonathan, the handsome and rich American gentleman who started out as one of her clients. Melissa is on top of the world, until she discovers that her roommate Nelson is having the flat renovated and that she’ll have to find a new place to live. Luckily, Jonathan steps in with a seemingly perfect solution: Melissa can accompany him to New York, where he’ll have to spend the next few months for his job. At first, Mel is delighted to spend a romantic month in New York with Jonathan. But when the demands of his work leave him little time to spend with her, and when she hears pointed gossip about his ex-wife Cindy at every social event she attends, Mel begins to wonder whether she has made the right decision.

This sequel to The Little Lady Agency picks up right where the first book left off, and it’s very similar in quality to the first installment. Mel’s narrative voice is a lot of fun, and I think she’s relatable to many women, with her people-pleasing instincts and selective confidence. I continued to enjoy the development of Mel’s relationship as well. She and Jonathan encounter some very believable obstacles in this book, and I’m still not entirely sure which direction they’re headed in. There is still that pesky other man, whom I’d like to see in a more central role in the third book. I’ve already begun The Little Lady Agency and the Prince, so I hope to see all my lingering questions resolved soon!
