I'm going out of town this weekend and won't have access to a computer, so I figured I would complete the Austen meme through Sunday and stay ahead of the game! So here we go...
Day 05. Favorite moment in the books.
I love the scene near the end of Pride and Prejudice, where Elizabeth starts teasing Mr. Darcy and asking him why he fell in love with her. It's just such an adorable, funny conversation that really shows how well-suited they are, as well as giving a foretaste of what their married life will be like.
There is also a certain scene involving a letter in Persuasion, but I am saving that for a later date. :)
Day 06. Favorite movie adaptation.
"Clueless"! The way Amy Heckerling updated Emma into a '90s teen flick was absolutely genius! Alicia Silverstone's Cher was the perfect mixture of whiny and well-meaning, and Brittany Murphy's Tai was hilariously dense. Great jokes, great soundtrack, great period feel...it's just a great movie! :)
Day 07. Favorite Austen couple.
Ooh, this is tough. I like almost all of Austen's couples, because her heroes and heroines are all very well-suited to one another. My favorite is probably Lizzy and Darcy, simply because I love P&P so much; however, I also really love Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth, whose relationship overcomes the most obstacles and suffers from the longest separation.
