Our Thanksgiving! Snow!

Nov 29, 2003 10:06

It snowed! We just got a light dusting last night and you can still see patches of grass poking through- but it can count as our first snow, I guess. Snow in November is a little early here. I can’t wait till the first “big” snow where we could actually take Kylie out to play in. I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving and are having a good weekend. Here’s what we’ve been doing:

Kylie had her Christmas pictures made Wednesday. Sears was good- they took us back as soon as we got there. Kylie smiled good in the first picture they snapped but the lady accidentally had her arm in the picture when she snapped it so we couldn’t have that one. They took a second picture and it was ok, she wasn’t smiling as well in it, but she didn’t look bad and you could see her whole body in her Christmas dress/hat. Since I had a $7.99 coupon for a package of 52 pictures from the first accepted pose, I had to take that pic for it. After that, all the pictures the lady took- Kylie was crying hard! My dad thinks it may have been that Kylie didn’t like the lady’s loud squeaky voice. We couldn’t get her to stop crying. The lady taking her pictures was getting ready to leave for the day so she had another lady take over. The second lady worked with Kylie better. She ended up getting several good shots of Kylie.

We looked at the pictures on the computer and I got the package with the first accepted pose of her sitting down with a full-body pose and a white background. The package came with 2- 8X10’s, 2- 5X7’s, 3- 3X5’s, and 40 wallets. I also got an 8X10 of Kylie sitting in a white chair, a 5X7 sheet of her holding Christmas ornaments with a blue/ornaments background, and a 5X7 sheet of her sitting on a sled with a snow/trees background. I figured I could scan the pictures, upload them to my computer & print them off my good-quality photo printer if I needed to. I had the coupon for the package priced at $7.99 and each additional sheet was $14.99. The pictures total was around $50. I then purchased the $29 Smile Savers Plan (this means that for 2 years each sitting free is free. It’s regularly $10 per person photographed.) I figured we’d get Kylie’s picture taken again at least twice more in the next 2 years at Sears. Around this time in 2 years we’d hopefully have a 6 month old baby so we’d need another family portrait (we had one made last September), I doubt we’d have another made before the next baby arrives. We plan to conceive this coming late July/early August. If so we’d have it April/May 2005. ;) The total for the pictures was $92 because I purchased the Smile Savers Plan this time and because Dad threw in a couple of photo albums. I had planned on purchasing the pictures myself, but Dad paid for them as a gift which was nice. ;)

Thursday, Thanksgiving day morning, Jerry, Kylie and I traveled with my parents to Whitesburg. All of my family lives there so it was nice to see everyone. We were there along with my brothers Dustin (and his girlfriend), and Robert, and my aunts, uncles, cousins, and my Grandparents. We had Thanksgiving dinner at 2pm. Everyone took naps while the kids played and then we ate the leftovers again in the evening and the next day. Lol! There was a lot of food! Kylie loved playing with her 6 year old second cousin Callie. It was cute! Callie would hold Kylie’s hands and help her walk around the house. She shared her Barbie dolls and other toys with her too. Sometimes I wish Kylie had a kid to play with here at home. We didn’t get to see the new baby, Lauren. My cousin & his wife live in Virginia, about 30 minutes from Whitesburg and they weren’t coming in for Thanksgiving because Scott’s parents (who live in Whitesburg) were gone to Florida. I still haven’t seen a picture of her.

Friday we went to visit several other people my parents know. We took Jerry to see our old house in Whitesburg- it’s a beautiful log cabin surrounded by tons of pine trees, it’s so pretty out there. We lived there until I was 5 years old, but I have several memories of it. We visited my Great-Grandma, Kylie’s Great-Great Grandma, who is 81, in the nursing home. She has had Alzheimer’s (memory loss), for several years and has a feeding tube and oxygen to help her breathe. It’s so sad to see her like that. We ended up getting home around 7pm yesterday.

Today Jerry is working with his uncle most of the day. I plan to unpack our stuff & clean the house. I put a couple of more Christmas decorations up & we got our first Christmas card! Oh, I got 2 more pairs of undies via the panty exchange (that I mentioned in my last entry)! One has penguins on sleds and the other has Christmas presents. I like how they are holiday-undies! ;) They are from a girl named Jennifer H. in CT. It’s cool to have undies coming in the mail from all around the nation. If any of you want to do the panty-exchange, I have 2 more copies I can send out. I also have the kitchen towel exchange sheet if any more of you want to do it (mentioned in my last entry).

For the rest of the weekend we plan to get the last few Christmas gifts we need to shop for and see Lorie's baby Jonathan. ;) I better go. Tell me what you all have been up to. Take care. ;)
