You're an equestrian too?! That's so awesome! It sounds like you're doing well with your horse. He freaks when things touch his legs too, huh? My dad's mare doesn't really like having her feet handled, and neither does my gelding. But the latter is an ornery old man and I swear he lives to irritate me. :)You're moment with Scotch sounds really amazing. I love breakthrough moments like that.
He's getting a lot better about his legs. I do agree that sometimes they do things just to annoy us and would laugh out loud if that wouldn't be such a breech of their regal air. I still remember when we first had Scotch out in the pasture 15 years ago, she had this little game she played with us. She'd let us get close, almost able to reach out and touch her. Then she'd trot away, just fast enough there was no hope of catching her and then repeat as we tried again. The trick we learned was to start to pet another horse in the pasture and then she'd be perfectly happy to let us put the halter on her and take her in. I love those breakthrough moments too.
