As you can probably imagine, when you run a computer lab, the kids pester you quite often for "free days." I'd love to be able to give them, but any time I've given one, without fail I get micromanaging administrators walking through the door asking me WTF the kids are doing. So earlier this week, I issued a general moratorium on asking for free days.
Less than 5 minutes after I walked in the door, I had a kid ask about a free day (this happens a lot on Fridays), and was given detention on the spot.
I send more kids to detention by 10:00 a.m. than most people do all day...
