I noticed in the comic book post a lot of people discussing "content"...if something has good content, it's okay. but why is this? what constitutes good content?
*is it a simple lack of sex and violence? I mean, the Bible itself is pretty full of that. could it show these things as long as it shows a consequence?
*can it depict sex and violence, but not glorify it?
*what about the work's values? could a bad movie be devoid of anything objectionable visually, but still have a deeply unchristian message? I mean, to me, even Disney movies have pretty questionable values sometimes.
I don't know, personally I can't think of any movie or book I wouldn't consume just because I was a Christian. otherwise I don't even know what I'm objecting to. being exposed to things I disagree with can cause me to realize why I am against them on a deeper level. that's just me, and I understand if someone feels tempted to sin by something in a work, they should avoid it. but personally, I don't see myself having that issue so I don't think I'm a "bad christian" for enjoying secular works that sometimes depict bad things.
what do you think? what are some very concrete examples of things you won't watch/read and why?
christian living,
entertainment,
comic books
