Comcast, RCN, and more...

So, currently I have Comcast cable and internet. No HD reception, no DVR, and only showtime as far as premium channels go...I don't have the triple play with the phone (what's the point?), just the digital TV + Showtime and the Internet.

But I'm definitely switching it up at least somewhat, and looking for advice/input from other locals on how to do so.

1) There's an HDTV here now, so need to get HD service...looks like that's only like $8-9 a month extra, so no big deal. It's a little confusing what channels that adds, but I think I got it figured out...

1b) It looks like none of the HD stuff is part of Comcast OnDemand? This true?

2) Debating adding the DVR, which is like $10 extra a month...anyone have Comcast's DVR? How is it? How much does it hold and is it decent to use?

I have to say, however, I've been a bit frustrated with Comcast's internet service...that said, I'm debating switching to RCN. So, anyone locally have RCN?
3) How's the Internet speeds and uptime?
4) How's their OnDemand?
5) How's their HD selections?
6) How's their DVR service?

Much thanks to any input anyone's got!...
