Hello, Nurse

Jan 19, 2006 14:34

I just got my flu shot. My left arm is a little tingly.

I recall a dress rehearsal from the Kids Acting days, when someone said "fuchsia" and somebody thought they said "flu shot," and another time when the sound man was looking for the actor who was wearing "mic eleven," and Michael Evans kept saying, "I'm RIGHT HERE!"

It's so warm now that blacks, browns and boots seem unfashionably out-of-season. But it's January. In March, the J.C. Penney catalogue will undoubtedly feature blondes in crisp white skirts, but we will all be hunkering down for that final freeze. All the flowers that bloomed in late February will die, and then a week later we'll be going to Barton Springs in bikinis.

Rush is this weekend, but I'm not taking any part. I'm going "financially inactive" this semester, which means I pay no money and attend no events, but am still a member and can wear the letters. (Sounds ideal, doesn't it?) The hitch is that you can only go financially active one semester, ever, so next fall I'll have to (A) return to full active/penniless standing, (B) go completely inactive, which means they like, wipe your name off every record and make you return all your ADPi gear (even the stuff for which you paid good money), or (C) transfer some place that doesn't have an ADPi chapter.
I'm happy to be shutting that door.

We did improvisation over seventh chords in sight singing/dictation today. It reminded me of my dream of running off and becoming a jazz singer.

Arm still tingly. Becoming numb.
