Variations of your comment are popping up lots of in news stories! At least the first half - I haven't read enough to find the second half, even if it was my first thought!

You and I have been listening to the same things! :)
We'll see how well his peace efforts go. I don't think he's the Boy Wonder, but I do have high hopes for him. And I do think that the last administration's tactics have made at least half the world hate us, which I don't think helps so much...

Yeah, it is so interesting. And of course, I'm sure we're RIGHT (in both instances). *sigh

I can be tremendously wishy washy. I prefer to think of it as seeing both sides of the issue, which is true sometimes, lazy/ noncommittal other times. But I do think it's important to do one's best to have an open mind. I think(?) I just read that it was Seneca who said, 'before you judge a man, walk a mile in his moccasins.'
Because two sides can both be part right.

What really gets me angry is that some Christians are so vocal that people think that's what Christianity is about. And yeah, the most vocal ones tend to be way Right Wing, far from where I stand politically. It's like the Ugly American, in a religious setting.
The fact is that all flavors of Christians, evangelical or not, have their own problems. Some of us want to think we're better than others because we have "the answer." Well, whether anyone else thinks it's really "the answer," it still doesn't make a person perfect. They forget that while God forgives them all sorts of crap, people still see all their warts.
