[Paddy looks grumpy. He's smoking (damn, there went quitting), and sitting on a rock, looking into the sea,]
You know. At least when I took my kids to the seaside, there was a shitty bed-and-breakfast with greasy bacon waiting for us.
C'mon, Admiral, give us a break. I don't do fishing. Or any of this

You'll scare them away if you're too loud.

If I scare 'em enough, they'll do what I say.

[Because she has, and she calls bullshit.]

No. Never had much time for boy scoutin'.

[She'd been out scouting fruit while he got the pole together.]

Are you telling me you know how to fish?

[She looks a little sheepish for not mentioning it earlier.]
If you want to switch, we can do that. I might have better luck.

Have you... eaten any of that fruit, Laura? [He remembered the last time he'd been on an island.]

Not yet. I think there's a mango tree maybe thirty paces into the jungle, but I wanted a second opinion before I brought it back to for us to eat.
[She stretches the bracelet out and bites through the cord, the beads falling into her lap; then she knots one end of the cord together several times, slides the beads back on, and knots the other end, all before tying the makeshift sinker to the string and re-casting the line into the water.]

[He peered back towards the woods,] I'll go look. The last port like this... the fruit was [highly addictive] a little dangerous, so I'll check it out.
[He at least knew what to look out for, and to actually watch the animals and how they reacted before eating things,]
But nice move, finding a tree.

[After readjusting her position, she points off at the treeline.] I started right by that tree there; it'll be easy to find, I gouged some bark off with a rock. I broke a few branches at eye-level along the way so I'd be able to get back if I went in too far to see the beach.

[He peered into the distance,] And good luck catchin' some fish.

[She turns back to watching the line intently. It's about ten minutes before she gets a tug, and she doesn't actually manage to nab that particular fish. By the time Paddy gets back, however, she's got two little ones laid out on the rock beside her; she's gutted both with a sharp, thin rock and is using the removed innards as more bait. The rest of them are in another, smaller pile for later use.]

He's a little scruffier than when he started, and there's bits of shrubbery lodged in his hair. But he's got a mango in each hand,]
They're okay! [He walks towards her and realises there's already a fish on the rock. Two fishes!]
You are better at this than me.

It gets easier when you start using the guts! Fish really love 'em. I'm hoping for a bigger one now, but we'll see how that goes.
[She holds up her other hand for him to see; both are bloody.] Think you could take over for a sec? I want to rinse this off before I eat anything.

You've... really done a number on those fish.
