Mississippi, last day.

My older sister Jennifer came down from Tennessee yesterday. She made two announcements: 1) she's getting married to her long-time boy Robbie. 2) She's mother fucking pregnant.

Don't be confused by the MF'n part. She's 31 this year, and we've all been waiting for it to happen... so we're all happy. My Dad's reaction was... strange. Kind of between joy and... I dunno. We didn't tell the grandparents later that night at dinner. They're the definitive example of traditional Southern values, and they just wouldn't be happy with the insemination pre-marital coitus thing.

Speaking of which, my grandparents are amazing. He's 90, she's 82. She doesn't go out much anymore (except for church), but she still gets around the house just fine. He still gardens and woodworks out in his shop and does everything he's always done. And what's more, their minds are both razor sharp. He was showing me pictures and telling me stories in detail from World War II and previous. And he remembers everyone's name. It's astounding.

Today we're going out on Dad's boat into the Gulf (sisters+dad+wife+me). That is, if the weather holds.
