"Fast forward to the sequel: Yup, she did it again on the final draft. Wow. WOW. That either takes a whole lot of stupid, or a set of steel balls. Well, she's about to reap what she's sown, I guess, eh?"
My subtitle to the story of the sequel is "A New Benchmark for Student Stupidity." And yes, she's about to learn a sad lesson, because I DO document and send a letter to the home faculty in these cases, and generally at the very least the student will be placed on academic probation until they graduate. If they graduate.
"Ergh. Sorry to hear Bailey's still poorly. Hmm. This is a longshot, but has the vet tested for diabetes? I know it causes all sorts of odd imbalances in cats."
Actually, diabetes was our first thought, back when he was drinking a lot but before he started losing his fur. But his bloodwork comes back perfectly fine for everything except the thyroid; his kidneys are fine, no diabetes, nothing like that.
Right now I'm thinking we need a Dr. House for cats; it's probably some wacky combination of problems. And my google-fu is failing me.

I'm sure you're happy with your vet and all, but I took a quick look around, and there's a couple cat-specific vets in the city, and it might be worth bending their ears for the specialist angle: The Calgary Cat Clinic and Killarney Cat Hospital were the first two that popped up.
