Happy New Year!
I celebrated with the first proper party at The Flat. To begin with, a few friends and I decided to tour the less usual pubs of Birmingham for a few drinks beforehand, including the frankly fantastic Bacchus bar, an underground pub, tucked away beneath an upmarket hotel, the place is an eclectic mix of medieval and ancient-Egyptian themes complete with suit of armour in the hallway. After a couple there and meeting with other people in a couple of other pubs we headed back to The Flat to celebrate there.
In the end there were about 12 of us sharing too much alchohol, music and waiting for 2011. The Flat has a great view across the city and we watched a spectacular fireworks display from the top of the Hyatt hotel. Far better than actually paying to go somewhere to watch fireworks or buying our own.
In the end most people stayed over and I've spent most of the afternoon (which was when we woke) tidying up and having a marathon session of the final Lost season.
I've decided that I've only made one New Year Resolution this year which is, very simply put: 'Fuck it, why not?' I'm not turning down any opportunities this year, any chances I'm going to go for and any risks I'm going to take.
