Sir Terry Pratchett died today.
Having gotten used to the idea of losing Sir Terry piece by piece over the past seven years, losing him all in one go is rather difficult, particularly at such a young age.
I just want to say that to a very alone teenager who didn't have many friends who weren't books, Sir Terry's work, Discworld in particular, brought real joy and comfort to my life. I started with Interesting Times and then devoured the rest of the books, reading them over and over again, laughing out loud with delight and pitying other people who didn't understand the magic of it all.
I got older and happier, made some good friends and grew up, but Sir Terry was always there; the joyous anticipation twice, sometimes three times a year that a new story was to be published, less a book and more a window into a very real, very wonderful world.
I never met Sir Terry, but he will always be important to me and I will miss him more than I can say.
My thoughts are with his family and friends.
Sir Terry was wizzard.
