So, I was looking at my account page on Netflix and saw that I have the ability to change the status of both my gender and the year I was born. I didn't realize that you could do both.
Stuff I've watched:
Lars and the Real Girl - 8/13
It was interesting and well made, but I can't put my finger on what it was that didn't make me love it. I did like that seemingly an entire town rallied around this poor fellow, and I also liked that there wasn't a storybook ending.
Hot Fuzz- 11/13
Really really funny. I love how it manages to be laugh-out-loud funny with a ridiculous plot line and at the same time touching. A great buddy/action movie spoof that isn't really too much of a spoof. The Army of Darkness references never got old for me, and they were many.
Soylent Green - 9/13
Once you get past the camp and do your best to forget the ending that has inevitably been ruined for you, it's a pretty good film. A great swan song for Edward G Robinson.
In Bruges - 10/13
A dark buddy comedy, emphasis on dark, but with a small light at the end of the tunnel. I was really surprised at Colin Ferrel's ability to do comedy.
There Will Be Blood - 10/13
I thought it was great. Paul Dano was pretty amazing. Great performances all around. Daniel Day Lewis was larger than life, but then, that's what he gets paid to do. I've heard of critics not really liking this one, but I did.
Double Indemnity - 10/13
A so-called Film Noir classic. I haven't seen much of the genre, but this film makes me want to become more familiar with it. Another great performance by Edward G Robinson.
in the cue - Rififi, Annie Hall, Son of Rambow, Hellboy 2, and Chinatown. I get 2 movies a month, which is about all I have time for right now, so this is it for awhile.
