And The Moral Of The Story Is... That I Can't Think Of A Good Subject Line

So yeah, another Sunday, another update. Where to begin? Why, at the start, of course!
Saturday (Day 2): Got to the gym 45 minutes early, so I went in and stretched out, then proceeded to spend about 25 minutes or so just running the ropes. Still not perfect, but I'm definetly improving (note: no bruises on my ass this weekend!). Then class started. There were 4 newbies there Saturday, myself, Adam, and Dave were on our second days, and Mitchell was on his first. We practiced our chain wrestling, then the whole group, so that ranged from a guy on his first day, to guys who have been wrestling for over a year (I'd say years, but I can't remember if Champagne was doing these drills or not, but that's not really the point). It was pretty basic stuff, Steve would do a series of rolls (somersaults, back rolls, shoulder rolls, etc.) and we would take turns slingshotting over the ropes into the ring, doing whatever Steve did, then slingshotting out. I was fine on the rolls as we did a fair amount of that for school wrestling, and apparently, according to Rob and Steve, my ability to spring up on backrolls reminded them of "a monkey". I'm not sure why, hopefully meaning I'm agile and quick, and not that I fling feces, so I took it as a compliment and moved on. I learned 2 things: 1) I really, really suck at headstands, even worse than I figured I did; and 2) when I slingshot over the ropes to get in and out, I get a lot of hangtime. I don't know why, but I was hanging up in the air pretty nicely going in and out. Anyways, that went fine. Then we learned how to do armdrags from the lockup position. It's not horribly complex, and after a few tries I was able to nail it. Problem is, after doing about 10 in a row to get it down pat, Rob started the drilling in earnest. One person started in the ring, and the other 4 people would take turns coming into the ring, taking 2 armdrags, then the person giving them would somersault up to them and give 2 more. Now, that doesn't sound so bad, but here's the thing: I had just done about 10 of these, and I started. I survived that, but I was gasping for air like I had been underwater for an hour. That was pretty much it for Saturday.
Sunday (Day 3): Got to the gym hella early again, so I went and hit the ropes a bit to warm up, then class started. Similar drilling to Saturday, with a few more advanced twists added to the rolls. I also learned how to do a front flip from the top turnbuckle into the ring (albeit a sloppy one hehehe), and a backflip over the top rope into the ring (again, pretty sloppy). Then more practice at chain wrestling, with a few more counters and reversals learned. Then we learned tackles. My left shoulder is a little bruised from being hit the wrong way. But I'll live. Then it was more armdrags (thankfully I didn't get quite as out of breath this time around), and that was it for Sunday.
EDITORIAL RANT: This is a disclaimer! I am going to rant! If you ever read my old livejournal, you will know what to expect. If you haven't, well, it defies explanation, so just be warned, you may be surprised. On with the show!
With this rant, I intend to make an argument that will be controversial. In my opinion, Justice Donald Halikowski (from here on in referred to as Justice, or jackass) is a psychopath. Now, according to the definition I found online, a psychopath is someone with sociopathic tendencies, but doesn't commit crimes, as a sociopath would. Sociopathic tendencies include egotism, a lack of remorse and guilt, and a lack of empathy for others. If I'm wrong, forgive me, but that's the definition I'm going with for this rant. While whether or not Justice Jackass has the first or second of those tendencies, he definetly has the third. Allow me to explain why. This week, Justice Jerkwad gave out a 9-month prison sentence to a couple who horribly abused their adopted children for 13 years. I don't want to get too into that, because I could get off an a long rant on that subject, which isn't what I'm trying to do. Suffice to say, the kinds of punishment those people deserve aren't legal in any civilized nation. But back to Justice Spankmonkey. When passing down his sentence, the judge actually seemed to care more about justifying the heinous actions than punishing the people who committed them. This, in my opinion, shows a lack of empathy for the victims of these crimes. Now, if this was the only incident like this for Justice Douchebag, it could be viewed as a lapse in judgment on his part. Allow me to give another example of his lack of empathy for victims. In 2001, he gave a man 12 months probation and a small fine (500$, the same fine I would get if I was caught selling smokes to minors) for videotaping two young girls with a pinhole camera while they were changing. To quote Justice Sackofmonkeyfeces, the sentence made sense because there was no physical harm done and no, and I quote the judge here, "long-term psychological effects for the victims." WTF? Do I even need to say any more? Suffice to say, this man should NOT be a judge at any level of the justice system... oh, and I would like to bludgeon him with a big rock. Ok, I think that will suffice. I will update again sometime. Later,
Chris
