A Bit of Thinking
While I have some beans heating up in a crockpot. I've got some thoughts.
My annual performance review is coming up and I've been seriously thinking about switching jobs. I like what I do alright, but the boss has been unintentionally condescending. I rarely get praise, but I received a compliment from the boss about how nicely I wrote an email to another department asking for a resolution to a problem. I was just following a template. As a 15 year employee to the boss' 1 year, that rankled. Now I expect at some point for the boss to give me a pat on my head for managing to walk upright correctly.
The other thought is a bit nicer. Two friends of mine, both in their sixties, have embarked on new things. One accepted a position as managing director of an acting collaborative down in Kansas. Another has moved closer to other family in Iowa after he had taken care of his mother for 10 or so years. He is looking to restart a career as a writer/poet. As someone in just starting the middle ages, it very inspiring to see that new adventures can be had at any age, be it young and old.
A half-full and half-empty glass for me these days.
