Aaaand another Wolf It Out show tomorrow. Hopefully everyone who claimed to be coming comes. Not only that, but I hope they give enough of a shit to move around while we play. The show at The Meatlocker was great because people actually got into the music. Unfortunately it seemed to give the band a general consensus of "moar hXc punk songz," which I don't want to play or write. I feel like a 15 year old playing them. The ones we have are fine, but that's more than enough. As cool as Rip It Up are, it's just not what I enjoy playing. Up the tempo a few dozen BPM and then come back to me.
We've got to devise a way to have Mike Davis switch back and forth between guitar and keys more efficiently/more often. I don't want to cram all of the keyboard songs into the beginning of the set like we did last time. Song flow doesn't seem to matter much to Jon and Mike, but I find it to be one of the must crucial points of playing live. Some songs are bad openers, some are bad closers. Some flow into each other better than others.
Shawn and Ciem's studio is almost finished. Another couple weeks and they'll be ready to record. I'm hoping to have Jon primed and ready for when that time comes. If not, I'm going to ask Shawn to do it.
Noodled around with a couple songs at Shawn's the other day, and it seems like it's going to be easier to finish and record than I originally assumed. Reworking the one SL song is fun. It's rare you get to look back at something you wrote and recorded nearly 2 years ago, then fix everything that sucked about it.
