The tale of the perfect Grilled Cheese
First you take out the perfect white bread. Soft, doughy, ready to be grilled to perfection.
Lay out the bread, add butter, lay down the exact amount of cheese that you know when grilled will melt perfectly filling every corner, edge to edge with hot gooey goodness.
Put the pan on the stove, turn the knob on to heat it up... just waiting for that sizzling sound of the butter hitting the hot pan as you add the bread.
Wait just wait.. you know the sound when you hear it sizzling, cracking, the crunchy sound as the bread changes to that perfect browned color.
You slowly slide the spatula under the edge of the corner.. will it lift.. has it browned enough to let it lift from the pan, YES .. oh its gonna be good. You start to slid under the entire piece of bread, lift up and then you FLIP..
As you turn it over you see the first glimpse of the ULTIMATE, amazingly browned grilled piece of bread. You know that it is going to taste like nothing you have ever had before.
You hear the sizzle as the other side hits the hot pan…. You can’t wait for it to be done.
Then you hear the email notification.. you go to check what interesting news just came in.
Then the horror... The smell, the realization that you maybe forgot for just a second too long.
