Edge - the beggning

Edge -In short it’s an 8 work program learning about entrepreneurship with people from Poland, surrounding schools, Canada and Glasgow and Caledonian Universities.
You do business plans and presentations for real life projects, I feel very privillaged to have been selected.
Anyways, here’s the blog.

Day Zero.

Launch event at Glasgow uni Kelvin gallery which does exist apparently it’s an exam hall among other things and well it’s hard to find at the huntarain part though.
It’s a nice university, on a nice day, but after that day I am proud to say I wouldn’t swap it for Caley.

Anyways, we had to stand around to “mingle” not the best idea I feel but it was an event, fun seeing all the edgers from before, feel like your friends now. Getting our bags phones badges etc. Everyone all dressed professionally, felt good. All to the pub after was fun also, I didn’t stay long decided 5 - asides would be wiser. But it just got me driven to do more

DAY 1 Monday the 18th of June

Ah joys of the early morning wake up calls. Usual necessities of this, which we need to, know what we should expect etc. The usual Ice breaker games, but I like these things gives you a chance to relax a little feel comfortable and have a laugh.
The Giant circle name birthday thing, with 50 people it’s a fair exercise. t6hrowing a beachball with questions on it all that kinda thing, all fun.

Doing these things in the new CPD building or old library to us old school Caledonian was fun. Except in summer some rooms and excessively warm. Tired us needlessly. Anyways, Shows games Which I wanted to become a giant conga the 16 year olds, liked this idea but nobody else joined in. the number organize yourselves thing and add ages to 100. Just my luck to join a group where we had NO vowels to spell any words, made for a fun time though.

The activities where interesting. Selling/ buying a car. Deciding on a product, doing a radio advert jingles and the groups quiz all discussing answers in group. Felt the team working went well everyone had the right attitude towards it get it done well but just get to know have fun at same time. We are all very clear of the new challenges ahead these 8 weeks.

Sitting at a lunch table with, in reality, nobody you know is mad. Defiantly like the Canadians and Poles though, Poles are crazy very simple to the point logic and Canadians seem a little, well most of the quite ambitious even in simple tasks. The diversity is great, loving the different types of people, different jokes. Feel like Hyper-Chris again. New people always bring this out in me I think, but it’s good to know some people still love the crazy-ness, even if it is shown a little less in my old age.

I seem to be getting on best with the younger guys Bryan Vikki and the Shack Attack especially good, really mature, more so than I expected. I am now quite confident that it’s not a baby sitting exercise and they will be good assets to the projects after today.

The afternoon was guest speakers time, they where good. It was commented they seemed to look at me when they where talking, must just be me and Vikki being so attractive, or maybe I just annoy them. Speakers where good, quite interesting but the heat of the room did it make it drag on a little.

If any of the Edge-onions read this, was a great day and it seems to be a very memorable experience hope to get know a lot of you very well.
