VD cards...

Those of you who know me will know, I tend to over think things. So for me, buying my first Valentines Day card in 24 years was a bit of a minefield.

The first question was do I buy one at all? I've only been on a couple of dates with this girl, although I've known her a while longer, so I don't know if she's expecting a card but I think things are heading in the right direction and we do have plans for Valentine's Day. Better to buy one than not and risk her being disappointed. Besides which, I actually thought I would quite like to buy one for her.

So then I had to pick a card. I went to Clintons and was a bit appalled by the selection. They were all too slushy or too intense. Too demanding or needy. Red, pink, festooned with hearts. Plus almost all of them had the words 'love' or 'girlfriend'. It is too early for words like that, thank you very much!

So, I went into one of the arcades to a shop a friend recommended and picked up a card with an abstract pattern, a yellow envelope and no message so I can just right 'Happy Valentine's Day, Love Chris'. Love Chris is a much safer use of the word love than, 'I love you,' right?

Also, I found out she has a tape deck in her car so tomorrow morning I'm going mix tape crazy!! Well, I'm going to make a mix tape. It's not gonna be slushy and romantic or full of message songs or owt. Just good tunes. Trying to decide if I can get away with opening it with Cardiacs.
