A part time bookseller
A part time bartender
A volunteer hospital radio DJ
And now....A trainee counsellor!
Because free time is for wimps!
I went to a meeting about the trainee counselling yesterday. It was in Cowbridge. I didn't really know what to expect because I only had the most basic itinerary. 10am-talk on counselog. 10.30 questions. 11.00 demonstration etc.
12noon was, "break for lunch".
I was expecting to find myself in a community centre or a classroom in the local school but when I arrived it was at the local rectory. Although it isn't a religious counselling service one of the people involved happens to also be the local C of E vicar and the meeting was round at his gaff. Very cosy it was too!
Similarly, I thought 'break for lunch' would mean, at best, some weak orange squash and some kit kats similar to what was available at night school. So I took a ginsters Sausage Roll along with me.
Actually, the vicar's wife made lunch for us. And when I say lunch, I don't mean cucumber sandwiches and biscuits. I mean spanish chicken(or mushroom omlettes for the vegetarians) with new potatoes and peas. Follow that with a delicious home made apple crumble and/or date and walnut tart and cream. As if that wasn't more than enough we finished up with cheese and crackers. I may not be religious but I liked these people. These are good people.
