I need to get something for my wife to drive as many of you know. Tuesday I had a chance to buy what I was told was a 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera S. The asking price was $350. Both the person who told me about it and myself agreed that after looking the car over, the price was too high.
To my surprise it was NOT an 86 and in fact was much closer to 94-ish. The engine was a 3300 series V6 which I only know as a Buick built engine and had about 116,000 miles on it. When I revved it, it seemed to happily rev up and down, but it wouldn't idle, it just died, I figure it was a combonation of bad gas, old battery, and a bad clutch pulley on the AC Compressor. Also the engine was leaking oil on both sides, though I couldn't tell if it was from the heads or the valve covers. Ground was too lumpy to get under the car and look, but with what I'd seen I didn't bother. God I wish I could find something super cheap that isn't a total POS *whimpers* Everything I find out here is eather beat to hell, has so many miles on it, I wouldn't want to touch it, or just plain is priced out of sight.
I did find a Cavalier convertible Z24 that we both liked, but it's $3900, and I can't afford that much! I need something around $500 or less that can both be basic transport and not fall apart at the trop of a hat. Nikki, I wish you lived closer, I'd take you up on the Honda without a second thought. *sighs and curls up in his tails*
