Indie singer-songwriter Steve Carlson‘s latest album, Different Town, has been named Best Male Album in the 2012 LA Music Critic Awards. […]
The musically diverse album is a true songwriters record. It celebrates the joys and challenges of life as a touring musician. Fittingly, the album was recorded in the place from which Carlson draws inspiration - on the road. Different Town sprung from recording sessions in eleven cities in nine countries including Los Angeles, New York City, Rome, Paris, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Brussels. Carlson wanted to collaborate with several of his artistic friends but they were spread across the globe in different towns, hence the name of the album. The journey was also captured for an upcoming documentary film.
Never having chased the limelight, Steve Carlson is one of those hidden gems who is a favorite of many industry insiders, but relatively unknown to the public. He has released eight full-length albums and two EPs to date, varying between studio projects, live albums, acoustic sessions, and a Christmas album. The best place to appreciate his talent is at a live show, where beautiful melodies and soul-stirring lyrics combine into a flawless performance.
